I had a large soup pot
that had been nesting in large frying pan
and was stuck
as it had been for the past five years.
But I had been using it anyway without incident.
Until Saturday
when I was making butternut squash soup
and transferred the hot pot/pan apparatus to the counter
and placed it on a potholder
which caught on fire
and seared to the bottom of the pan.
Acting quickly, I swiftly pivoted the whole flaming mass to the sink
and extinguished the flames
but not
without
searing my wrist
on the side of the pot.
And that is how I hurt myself this time.
But the soup was great.
